From the Aug 12, 2026 daily brief

OpenAI updated its advertising page on August 11 to announce that "ChatGPT Ads has now launched in the United Kingdom, Mexico, Brazil, Japan, and South Korea," and said it would keep expanding to more markets this year. Where this moved from and to: the line began on February 9 as a test on US logged-in adult users only, limited to the Free and Go tiers (Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Education carry no ads), and the company's framing then was to test and to learn; now it is a launch across five markets (the official page). ⚠️ The company says early results show "no impact on consumer trust metrics, low dismissal rates of ads," but publishes no numbers, so that sentence can only be taken as its own account. Six months separated the February test from a five-market launch.
