According to accounts of Samsung's third-quarter earnings call, Samsung raised its 2026 semiconductor capital spending plan to KRW 76.8 trillion (about US$53 billion), about 60% more than in 2025.

Samsung executives said on the October 29 call that KRW 52.8 trillion had been spent in the first three quarters, that spending will rise again in 2027, that new fabs and advanced packaging plants are planned in both the US and Korea, and that the Taylor, Texas fab is expected to start production in 2027. The KRW 76.8 trillion is Samsung's plan as relayed by a reporter, and actual spending may differ. Samsung said on the call that last year's figure was KRW 47.5 trillion; the roughly 60% increase is our calculation (Dan Nystedt on X, 2026-10-29). How we checked →

A large speech bubble from the person shows two similar white buildings with scaffolding: a smaller grey-brown bag tips round coins into the doorway of the left one, and a larger brick-red bag pours a bigger stream of coins into the doorway of the right one.
