According to accounts of ASE's third-quarter earnings call, ASE, a Taiwanese chip packaging and testing company, raised its 2026 capital spending from US$10.5 billion to US$11.5 billion and its advanced packaging revenue forecast from US$3.7 billion to US$4 billion, and expects that revenue to double in 2027.

ASE also said on the October 29 call that fourth-quarter revenue should be 6% to 8% above the third quarter, and that co-packaged optics revenue will exceed US$500 million in 2027. The doubling and the co-packaged optics figures are ASE's forecasts, relayed by a reporter. Co-packaged optics puts the optical transceivers in the same package as the switch chip, doing away with separate optical modules (Dan Nystedt on X, 2026-10-29). How we checked →

Concept illustration: under a sign lettered ASE with a teal and orange angular mark, a large framed screen shows a grey factory with a chimney and a big red sack lettered CAPEX with coins showing at its open top, and a worker in a cap and grey uniform is placing a smaller red sack, also showing coins, on top of it. On the right, a presenter in black stands behind a lectern and gestures toward the screen, and dark silhouettes of audience members' heads fill the foreground.
