Slack opens its Code API to all developers
Slack opened the Slack Code API, which lets an agent open a dedicated channel for a piece of work, to all developers; in August only a few partners such as Anthropic, Cognition, GitHub and Vercel could use it. Salesforce's October 28 announcement says a Slack Code channel is one an agent opens for a task, pulling in the relevant people, files and plans, posting updates along the way and archiving the channel when done, with channel permissions inherited; any developer's agent can now open one, on every plan. Our inference: agents' work in progress and items needing human review can stay in the Slack channels teams already use. Slack says 30% of GitHub Copilot's agent sessions in Slack opened a dedicated channel; that figure is self-reported by Slack, with no period, measurement method or note on extra charges. PR review sync and an agent overview page are listed as coming soon (Salesforce, 2026-10-28). How we checked →
